The Comartin 2014 Grenache comes from the Tierra Alta Vineyard, meaning ‘The High Land.” Tierra Alta is perched on top of Ballard Canyon in the Santa Ynez Valley, receiving great sun exposure and a high elevation of 1,200 feet, which allows for cool nights. This combination of warm days and cool nights promotes balanced ripening of the berries and clusters. Comartin’s 2014 Grenache offers aromas of dried red cherry, turned earth, concentrated rose, and intriguing hints of carnations. The well-woven flavors include tart cherry and baking spices of vanilla and nutmeg, all seamlessly lingering on the long finish.
