The Center of Effort 2013 Chardonnay comes from the winery’s estate vineyard, pitched along south-facing slopes in the western Edna Valley of San Luis Obispo County. Here, the vines achieve natural balance and produce fruit with sleek complexity and a clear expression of the vineyard’s terroir. Only the finest Chardonnay sub-blocks of the 2013 vintage were identified and designated for this fresh and pure Center of Effort Chardonnay.
This delicious wine offers notes of orange peel, spiced baked apple, clove, and star anise. The palate reinforces the fresh character with bright, precise acidity leading through flavors of almonds and tangerine fruit. Hard-spice notes of cardamom pod and nutmeg persist into the long, rich finish. This Chardonnay is built to age gracefully under proper cellar conditions.
Wine Regions of the World
All six of our wine of the month clubs include wines from a multitude of wine growing regions, and as the French say, the concept of terroir is paramount. This idea stretches well beyond France and is a large contributing factor for wines produced in all wine regions around the world.
