The limited-edition Brick Barn 2017 Cabernet Franc Reserve comes from the 35-acre Brick Barn estate vineyard, which lies just north of the Santa Ynez River in a largely unexplored winegrowing corridor. Here, persistent sun exposure ensures depth of flavor, while the Pacific Ocean (just 10 miles away) delivers daily cooling that maintains fruit acidity and structure.
The tiny 2.6 acre Cabernet Franc block, located along an upper highland, produces fruit that is prized for its sturdy tannins, beautiful spiciness and Bordeaux-style profile, and this Reserve bottling shows the extraordinary quality of these grapes. On the nose, floral red fruit aromas are accented by notes of vanilla, cinnamon and dried sage, while the palate offers generous flavors of plum, black cherry, blueberry, and strawberry cream, set against a mouth-filling texture with firm tannins. The finish is elegant and enduring. Enjoy!
