About the Products
Rancho Gordo’s Oregano Indio is grown by the Oregano Caxtle Cooperative in the town of Tlahuitelpa in the Huasteca region of central-eastern Mexico. The earthy notes in this Oregano make it a wonderful addition to salsas and guisados. It’s also delicious used as a rub for pork tenderloin, or added to oil and vinegar for a salad dressing.
Rich and delicious, but never cloying, this Banana Vinegar is made from fermented bananas in Veracruz, Mexico. This mild and fruity vinegar comes from the Casa Stivalet plantation, made specifically from the platano machos breed of bananas that lie somewhere between a regular banana and a plantain. A delicious addition to salad dressings, and also an unexpected - yet delightful - treat to drizzle over vanilla ice cream.
Xoconostle are sour prickly pears that grow on cactus in Mexico. On their own, they add a nice sour note to stews and salsas and are essential for the classic dish, Mole de Olla. Xoxoc, in Hidalgo, Mexico, dries these fruits and sweetens them slightly with unprocessed sugar cane. The result is a simply irresistible snack that is both tart and sweet.
Dark Chocolate with Pink Peppercorn
An authentic dark chocolate bar from Veracruz, this sweet and semi-bitter tasty treat is made with 75% Cacoa and a kick of pink peppercorns that offer a peppery, aromatic and fruity nuance to the chocolate. Enjoy as an afternoon snack or unique dessert.
Black Bean Chipotle Sauce
Laterra Artisan Harvest
A savory and spicy Mexican black bean blend made with chipotle chilies, this Negra Chipotle Sauce is delicious used in cooking and grilling, as a dip with tortilla chips, or as a spread with tortillas and crackers. Enjoy one of the most popular, authentic flavor combinations of Mexico with this artisan sauce.
Mexican wines are sold separately.
