Albertina’s 2009 "Lorilai’s Reserve" Merlot was produced with mountain grapes from the sustainably farmed Zmarzly Family Vineyards in Mendocino. The high elevations of this site yields grapes of intense flavors and colors, giving the 2009 "Lorilai’s Reserve" Merlot a richly flavored fruitforward character with nice balance and soft tannins. Aromas and flavors of ripe blackberries, cherries, and plums blend together with hints of cloves, cedar, cinnamon and nutmeg that linger on the finish. The wine was named for Fred and Alberta Zmarzly’s 8-year-old granddaughter, Lorilai.
