Krupp Brothers Family Winery - Napa Valley

Platinum Plus! selection - 91 Points Connoisseurs' Guide

As the Krupp brothers faced their newly purchased property on Atlas Peak, they knew the odds were stacked against them. The mountain landscape was an unlikely parcel of land in an area that wasn’t exactly considered a prime Napa Valley growing area – but the Krupps also saw great potential, knowing they were on the brink of something great. It was 1991 and Dr. Jan Krupp and his brother Bart spent the next several years clearing the virtual wilderness (literally moving over a billion-plus pounds of rocks and earth) and carving out a working vineyard. The result was 700 planted vineyard acres that would become some of the most prized real estate in the entire region. Neighboring wineries such as the renowned Caymus Vineyards, Chappellet Winery, and Pahlmeyer, recognized the quality and distinction of the fruit and began purchasing the Krupp Brothers’ grapes for their own wines. The Krupps realized the high demand for their mountain fruit and saw the quality of wines being produced, and decided it was time to start a winery of their own. The first release of Krupp Brothers wine came in 2002, beginning the stretch of prizewinning wines and worldwide distinction for the small Napa Valley winery. The Krupp Brothers were an instant success! Today, the brothers have added a number of vineyards to their estate, including the celebrated Stagecoach Vineyard in Oakville, and continue to produce masterful wines rated among the best in the world.
