Greenwood Ridge Vineyards - Sonoma Coast

Gold Series Plus Selection - 93 Points by Wine Enthusiast

Nestled atop a 1,400-foot high ridge overlooking the picturesque Anderson Valley and surrounded by nothing but lush forests of evergreen and redwood trees, Greenwood Ridge Vineyards was built to co-exist with the beautiful natural surroundings. The original 8 vineyard acres were planted high on the Mendocino Ridge in 1972, and when Allan Green's family purchased the site just a year later, his plan was to maintain the existing vineyard, sell most of the harvest and keep some grapes for a little home winemaking. This plan changed when Allan's homegrown Riesling won a Gold Medal in 1979, and Greenwood Ridge Vineyards was born a short year later. Now one of the oldest vineyards in the Anderson Valley, Greenwood Ridge is a small winery that's generated a big following. Small, handcrafted batches of exquisite wines that have always sold out upon release, has propelled the winery to cult-like status among avid wine enthusiasts. In recent years, Greenwood Ridge has been named One of America's Top 30 Wineries three times by Wine and Spirits magazine, and the wines continue to steal many of the top medals from major international competitions.
