Fess Parker Winery

A cutting-edge winery and tasting room, built by Daniel Boone

Fess Parker Winery & Vineyard is one of the great award-winning family wineries of Santa Barbara County. Located on the pastoral Foxen Canyon Wine Trail in the Santa Ynez Valley, the winery and family vineyard are situated on a picturesque 714-acre estate surrounded by rolling hills, vast meadows, and pristine landscapes as far as the eye can see. This peaceful environment is what enticed the late Fess Parker into purchasing the property back in 1988.

Fess Parker, a former actor who played the television roles of Davy Crockett and Daniel Boone in the 1950s and 1960s, impacted millions of young viewers and has been called by some, an American icon. Once leaving the acting profession, Fess Parker moved into his second career as a real estate developer and built his first resort hotel in Santa Barbara in 1986 (Fess Parker’s Double Tree Resort). In 1988, he discovered the Santa Ynez Valley property and promptly set about planning and establishing the Fess Parker Winery & Vineyard with his son Eli (Fess III). Fess Parker was an only child and had dreamed of one day starting a family business that he could pass on to future generations. The winery seemed like the perfect idea to bring the family together.

Eli Parker started as assistant winemaker and spent three years under the tutelage of acclaimed enologist Jed Steele before taking the lead at the family winery. Eli and Fess worked together planting vines and making plans for building a cutting-edge winery and tasting room on the property. Today, Eli Parker and his sister Ashley continue to stay involved in the family winery. Eli serves as CEO, while Ashley is the Executive Vice President. Ashley’s husband Tim Snider became President of the winery in 2010 and winemaking duties are now held by Blair Fox. Together, they uphold the Parker family’s original vision and have received numerous awards for producing some of the region’s finest wines. The tasting room is filled with photos and memorabilia of Fess Parker, celebrating his roles not only as an actor, but also as the founder of one of Santa Barbara’s most renowned family wineries.
