Chateau Meroux - PLUS!

a portfolio of great wines at great value

The Chateau Meroux wine brand is a part of the Gnekow Family Winery, a stunning and award-winning winery located in the rolling hills between San Francisco and Yosemite in Collegeville, California. Founded in 1996 by brothers Rudy and Sean Gnekow, the Gnekow Family Winery has grown into a well-established entity with various wine brands and more accolades than one could possibly count. Chateau Meroux, Gnekow’s estate vineyard, was the inspiration for its exceptional signature line of Chateau Meroux wines. Winemaker Cristophe Legrandjacques brings nearly twenty years of global winemaking experience to Chateau Meroux and Gnekow Family Winery. He was trained at the prestigious G.H. Mumm Vineyards in the Reims-Champagne region of France and also at Chateau de Chantegrives in the Graves district of Bordeaux. Cris and his supporting crew of veteran cellar workers have formed a unique bond that allows them to pursue new levels of excellence and exhilaration in the wines they create.

While the actual winery location is in Collegeville, the grapes come from vineyards located throughout Northern California. Much of Gnekow Family Winery’s vineyards are in the Lodi grape-growing region, where varietals such as Old Vine Zinfandel thrive. Additional varietals are sourced from vineyards in Mendocino, Sonoma County, and Napa Valley, as well as smaller growing locales.

Gnekow Family Winery’s Chateau Meroux label is exclusively offered at the winery tasting room, but it has gained exposure in recent years with its feature in the 2012 movie The Chateau Meroux. The movie was filmed at the Gnekow Family Winery and starred such actors as Christopher Lloyd, Amanda Righetti, and Marla Sokoloff. Gnekow Family Winery is proud of the wines they produce, the regions they represent, and the team that has helped them create a portfolio of great wines at great prices. Their commitment is to produce quality, value-oriented, interesting wines, and with over 100 awards to their name, it seems they have certainly achieved that. Cheers!
