Traditional Italian Pappardelle Pasta


A traditional taste of Tuscany! Enjoy hand-made pasta with delicious and aromatic meat sauce. Use your Adventure Package items and pair it with the wines from your International Wine Club shipment.

• Package of Pappardelle Pasta (use the Pasta in your Italian Adventure Package!)
• Minced meat (beef, turkey, or game meat). Use your preferred amount.
• 2 Tbs. olive oil (use the White Truffle Olive Oil in your Italian Adventure Package!)
• 1 small onion, diced
• 3 garlic cloves, crushed
• 3/4 cup chicken or vegetable broth
• 2 tsp. tomato purée
• 1 tsp. oregano
• Handful of flat-leaf parsley, chopped
• Grated parmesan, to serve

Tip: You can also use your Tomato Sauce or Pesto Sauce from your Italian Adventure Package in the place of or in addition to the ingredients listed above!


For the Sauce:
Pour olive oil into a large sauté pan over medium head. Once hot, add your choice of meat. Cook until browned and set aside.

Add the diced onion to the pan and cook until soft, about 12 minutes. Add in tomato purée, garlic and oregano, mix to combine. Stir in the chicken broth and boil until reduced by half, about 5 minutes.

Return the meat to the pan. Reduce heat and let simmer for about 1 hour, or until meat is tender and fully cooked.

For the Pasta:
Meanwhile, cook the Pappardelle pasta in a large pot of salted water. Cook until al-dente. Drain the pasta and add it to the pan with your sauce. Mix well for 1-2 minutes before serving. Add freshly grated Parmesan cheese, as desired.

Tip: There is no need to cook the sauce if using the exclusively-imported Tomato or Pesto Sauce from your International Wine Club shipment.
