Pizza & Wine Pairings For Every Palate

Karlie Kramer

Have you ever wondered why Americans have dubbed beer the perfect beverage to accompany pizza? While it makes sense to pair beer and greasy food, we prefer a more traditional approach. As the saying goes, “if it grows together it goes together.” This is the reason why we nestle strawberries and rhubarb together in the same pie, or why we make risottos with peas and asparagus in the spring. The same concept can be applied to pizza and wine — both have Italian roots. Especially when the wine is delivered to your door!

It makes sense — after all, Pinot and pasta are a timeless pairing. Whether you prefer a light and crisp white or a full-bodied red, there’s likely a slice of pizza that pairs perfectly with your glass. For example, the earthy undertones of Pinot Noir compliment the earthy flavors in mushrooms. The pineapple in a Hawaiian pizza goes great with a sweeter white like Riesling. You can even pair Champagne with a good olive-oil based pizza.

The possibilities are virtually endless. Be your own sommelier and try out these wine and pizza combinations for your next date night or pizza party. Better yet, sign up for one of our 6 Wine Clubs and pair amazing wine with pizza each month!
