Halloween Wine and Candy Pairings

10/31/2017

Witches, Wigs and, of course, Wine! Strangely enough, tonight you'll probably see all three.

Wine may already be a part of your nightly routine but tonight is special, and no, not because it is Wine Wednesday Eve, but because you get to guiltlessly indulge in obscene amounts of Halloween candy while you sip on glass of wine paired perfectly with your favorites!

Your spooky festivities may consist of dressing up and enjoying a night out with friends, staying in and watching scary movies only to scream and jump when a trick-or-treater knocks on your door, or perhaps chasing your kids though the neighborhood while they eagerly take candy from strangers. Whichever path your night takes you down, make sure to save some candy for yourself and pop open a bottle of wine!

What are you waiting for? Check out our recommended wine and candy pairings below.

A cool glass of Chardonnay is a nice coupling for juicy, fruity, and mouth-watering Starbursts or Skittles. Gentle acidity of the wine gives it a fresh and lively palate, perfect for these candies.
2014 Midnight Cellars Chardonnay

Butterfingers and MilkyWays are sure to be in your candy stash this year. Why not enjoy them with a full-bodied, bold Cabernet Sauvignon that will cut through the sugary treats for a balanced tasting experience.
2012 Ampère Cabernet Sauvignon

Rich and elegant, a glass (or two) of Grenache is what your Reese's and Peanut M&Ms have been waiting for. Silky tannins and intense flavors and aromas, a Grenache will be a great complement to these chocolatey pieces of heaven.
2013 Carini Grenache

Last but certainly not least, try pairing your Pinot Noir with none other than a Twix and/or Snickers bar and you'll be one happy camper! The chocolate-covered, gooey caramel and crunchy bits in each of these candies are begging for the complex yet soft nature of a good Pinot.
2014 Square Peg Pinot Noir

We could go on forever naming each grape varietal and the scrumptious Fun Sized candies to pair them with. But we won't because that could take a while and we know you're ready to uncork some wine and rip open a bag of candy that has been calling your name for the last week!

Enjoy and Happy Halloween!
