90-Point Wines for $25 or less!

wine club shipment with two bottles and a gift box

The best part about joining a wine club is finding those hidden gems. The bottles of wine that have that premium quality without the premium price tag; that’s what makes these subscriptions worth it.

Here at Gold Medal Wine Club, we pride ourselves on our efforts to scour the winegrowing regions of the world to find the best quality wines that aren’t gonna break the banks of our loyal members. I like to think we’ve done a pretty good job.

Don’t take my word for it, though… Let the wines speak for themselves.

Below are some of our all-stars: wines that have 90+ ratings, but cost less than $25 per bottle.

Try one or try them all. We hope you agree that this amazing collection was well worth the effort it took to find it!

Three 90+ Point White Wines under $25

White wines are often associated with being cheaper than their red counterparts. Wine enthusiasts know, however, that there is a distinct difference between being inexpensive and being bad.

Value is the most important aspect of buying wine. Getting a good deal on wine is less about how much you're spending relative to the average price of wine, but rather how much you're spending relative to the quality of the wine you're buying.

These white wines are bursting with value. Their cheap price tags are consistent with other white wines in the industry but their quality far exceeds the majority of wines on the market, regardless of hue. If you're looking for value, you've found it!

Jaffurs 2018 Viognier

Jaffurs 2018 Viognier

91 Points — Jeb Dunnuck, 91 Points — Antonio Galloni's Vinous

From the iconic Bien Nacido Vineyard of Santa Maria Valley comes the pure and beautifully balanced Jaffurs 2018 Viognier. This juicy, elegant white wine expresses floral aromas with hints of pineapple and a dash of minerality. On the palate, it builds richness with flavors of apricot, tangerine and sweet floral notes that add lovely layers of complexity. The aging in a combination of stainless-steel tanks and neutral oak provides vibrancy and tension yet with a softened, rounder texture.

Silvia Cellars 2019 Chardonnay

Silvia Cellars 2019 Chardonnay

93 Points — Las Vegas Global Wine Awards

A blend of fruit from Mendocino County and Sonoma County appellations within the North Coast of California, the Silvia 2019 Chardonnay is well balanced and refreshing with subtle complexities in the aromas and flavors. Antonio Silvia utilized his signature Sicilian style with this wine, blending Chardonnay that was fermented in stainless steel tanks with Chardonnay that was fermented in neutral oak. The oak provides hints of vanilla and enhances the mouthfeel, while the stainless steel preserves the naturally vibrant fruit flavors. This wine offers flavors of tangerine and lemon with a lush mid-palate that blends into a long vanilla bean-accented finish.

90 Points — Wine Enthusiast magazine

Produced from Round Mountain Vineyard in the High Valley AVA of Lake County, the High Valley 2019 Sauvignon Blanc is a delicate and well-balanced wine that shows off the characters of the region. On the nose, notes of apricot and pear are uplifted with fresh hints of orange blossom, while the grapefruit flavors on the palate show nicely with undertones of lemongrass and pineapple that comes through on the finish.

Three 90+ Point Red Wines under $25

As we said earlier, red wines are typically a bit more expensive than white wines. However, finding the best red wine isn't as simple as gravitating towards the bottle with the highest price tag.

Why flaunt an expensive bottle of wine when you can secretly enjoy the bottles that the wine experts are raving about? These are the wines that even the critics can't get enough of. And the best part? They're under $25 a bottle. Better stock up before they're gone!

Brander 2018 Merlot

Brander 2018 Merlot

91 Points — Antonio Galloni's Vinous

The Brander Merlot is always a favorite crowd pleaser, and the 2018 is no different. The ninth vintage from the neighboring Mesa Verde Vineyard in the Santa Ynez Valley’s Los Olivos District, the 2018 Merlot is bold, bright and well balanced from start to finish. Dark ruby in color, this wine offers gorgeous, pure fruit with a nose of fresh strawberry and flavors of cherry, raspberry and peaches. The medium weight of this wine makes it the perfect choice to enjoy this summer outdoors with a meal or on its own.

92 Points — James Suckling

A blend of 45% Merlot, 32% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot, the Gibbs 2018 Dusty Red Blend is a classic right-bank Bordeaux blend. EX Wines 2017 Pinot Noir

EX Wines 2017 Pinot Noir

91 Points — Planet Grape Review

The EX 2017 Pinot Noir offers a true expression of the quality and soul of the San Saba Estate Vineyard in Monterey’s Santa Lucia Highlands. For a wine that sees minimal new oak, this Pinot Noir is incredibly rich and expansive, showing off the personality and characteristics of this special site. This wine is bright and energetic with cherry and red berry flavors that have undertones of earth and fresh minerality. Aromas of rusty cherries and sagebrush round out this smooth, silky and well balanced Pinot Noir.

A 90+ Point Rosé for under $25

Here at Gold Medal Wine Club, rosé is typically viewed as a specialty wine that we often feature as a promotional item. Because of this, we take extra care in selecting premium options that are sure to satisfy all the biggest rosé fans.

Similarly to white wine, rosés are nice due to their affordability, but not all rosés are made the same. This selection is special due to the quality that you'll be able to taste, despite getting it for the same price as the bad stuff at retailers. Sounds like a good deal in our books!

Schug 2019 Rosé

Schug 2019 Rosé

96 Points + Double Gold Medal — Sunset International Wine Competition, 92 Points — James Suckling, 90 Points — Wine Enthusiast magazine

Walter Schug’s legendary winemaking career and accomplishments have been well documented since the early 1970’s when the German-born wine guru served as the founding winemaker of Joseph Phelps Vineyards. While at Phelps, Schug made California’s first proprietary Bordeaux-style blend as well as the first varietal Syrah wine in the United States.

When Phelps decided to end their production of Pinot Noir (Schug’s favorite varietal), Schug began making his own wine on the side and by 1983, Schug Carneros Estate Winery was born. Schug and his wife Gertrude chose the cool, marine climate of Carneros for their family winery due to their mutual love of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, and over the years, have won countless awards and ratings for their spectacular Burgundian-style wines.

Schug’s 2019 Rosé of Pinot Noir comes from the Sonoma Coast’s famed Ricci Vineyard. Crafted in the German style, this delicate Rosé is refreshingly light and dry with vibrant acidity and inviting flavors of strawberry, watermelon and peach. It is a reminder of the great versatility that Pinot Noir has to offer.
