A relative newcomer to the Northern California wine scene, this upstart winery has been producing ultra-premium Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the Russian River Valley since 2001. Joe Otos, a noteworthy winemaker, banded with Ed Sillari and John Tracy to fulfill his long-time dream of building a winery. With Sillari's background in wine sales, Tracy's inherited small-lot vineyards in northern Sonoma County, and Otos's prominent winemaking skills, they together founded WillowBrook Cellars. After WillowBrook's inaugural small production vintages gained immediate attention, it was evident that there was a strong future for WillowBrook wines. In order to increase production to meet the demand, Otos began seeking out other small vineyards in Russian River Valley, acutely aware of the location's history of award-winning Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. One of the vineyards that struck his interest was none other than Dutton Morelli Vineyard, managed by the most well known grape growers in Russian River Valley. Planted to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in 1995, this 24-acre vineyard sits high on Stoetz Ridge, only six miles from the Pacific Ocean. The vineyard site is strongly influenced by cool mornings, warm daytime temperatures, and extended growing seasons, which allow for maximum color and flavor development. It's no surprise that the Dutton Morelli Vineyard was chosen for WillowBrook's award-winning Pinot Noir profile.
