Scott Harvey Wines became a reality in 2003, when founder Scott Harvey saw an opportunity to pursue a dream that his friends and supporters had been urging him to do for a number of years. Scott had been a partner in the successful Folie a Deux Winery in Napa Valley, and when he learned that it would be sold to the Trinchero Family of Sutter Home Winery fame, he jumped at the chance to start his own namesake winery. He began producing a small amount of grapes from the Sierra Foothills, the region in which he was born and had formerly worked. Scott’s intention was to make a number of small lot wines from particular grape sources that he knew would be among the best in that part of Northern California. Scott Harvey Wines made its initial release of almost 2,000 cases in 2004 and the new winery was on its way to gaining major critical acclaim. The small winery’s distinctive portfolio of wines focuses on Scott’s roots – Zinfandel, Syrah and Barbera from the Sierras that are characteristically approachable, food friendly, and full of luscious fruit flavors. Scott is joined by his wife Jana, and through Scott Harvey Wines, they continue to help establish Amador County as a world-class wine-growing appellation.
