A special brand within the Renteria Wines family, Salva Tierra is a wine inspired by the Salvatierra family’s lineage of farmers who lived on a coffee plantation in Costa Rica. In the 1960’s, Virginia Salvatierra came to the United States to get married and raise a family, but she always remembered her childhood spent on the farm, watching her father harvesting bananas and coffee. Almost thirty years later, Virginia’s daughter Denise carried on the family farming tradition when she married Oscar Renteria of Renteria Wines and Renteria Vineyard Management companies. Oscar is one of Napa Valley’s most respected and sought after winegrowers, having followed in his father’s footsteps creating innovative grape management techniques and growing world-class fruit for such prestigious estates as Robert Mondavi Winery, Caymus, Rombauer, and Duckhorn. His vineyard management company was one of the first Mexican owned vineyard management companies and today, is one of the largest in the industry. Renteria Wines became a reality in 1997 and the first Salva Tierra vintage followed a few years later in 2001. With access to some of the most sought after vineyards in Napa and Sonoma Counties, Oscar’s wine grape choices are among top shelf selections, ensuring the best wines possible are crafted each vintage. The Salva Tierra wine is crafted with a deep respect for terrior and holds a special place in Oscar and Denise’s heart – a wonderful tribute to farming, family tradition, and love of the land.
