Miro Cellars - Dry Creek Valley - Sonoma Count

Gold Series Plus! selection - 92 Points, Wine Enthusiast

Born and raised in northern Bulgaria, a region with hundreds of years of winemaking history, Miro Tcholakov was exposed to wine and winemaking from a very early age. His grandfather made homemade wine and even as a young boy, Miro was at his side throughout the entire winemaking process. It instilled in him a desire to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps and to honor his Bulgarian heritage of family winemaking

After attending the Higher Institute of Agriculture in Plovdiv where he studied viticulture and enology, Miro came to the United States in 1990 through an international exchange program set up by The Future Farmers of America. Miro was introduced to the famed Napa Valley and knew this was the place to carry on his family winemaking tradition. He was hired on as a harvest intern at Sonoma County’s Dry Creek Vineyard, and worked his way through the ranks from Cellar Master to Assistant Winemaker in 1997. The following year, Miro took a head winemaking job at Trentadue Winery, a position he still holds to this day.

In 2001, Miro began making wines under his own Miro Cellars label and started with a limited production Petite Sirah that went on to garner 90 Points just a few weeks after its release. He has since added a Cabernet Sauvignon and Zinfandel to the portfolio and continues to earn prestigious awards and medals on each of his limited production Sonoma County wines.

The logo on Miro’s wine labels depict the Madera Horseman, a Bulgarian monument that was created at the beginning of the eighth century during the birth of the Bulgarian nation. It is the perfect symbol to celebrate Miro’s Bulgarian heritage and the fruits of his labor.

We hope you enjoy this special bottling from Miro Cellars – one of the best-kept
secrets in Sonoma wine country today.
