Paso Robles’ Lone Madrone Winery was started by the brother-sister team of Neil Collins and Jackie Meisinger in 1996. What began as a very small operation, selling only to local restaurants and wine shops, has grown into a distinguished Central Coast winery with a diverse selection of wines sourced from Paso Robles and nearby Cambria and Templeton. Although a number of different wines make up the Lone Madrone portfolio (in some vintages, as many as fifteen!), the production of each wine is so limited, they are nearimpossible to find outside the region. Neil and Jackie believe strongly that in order to produce wines of the highest caliber, you must first start with grapes that are of exceptional quality. To that end, Lone Madrone goes to great lengths to procure grapes from small, locally owned, and sustainably farmed vineyards that will result in bold, elegant wines inextricably tied to the Central Coast. Neil holds the winemaking responsibilities for Lone Madrone Winery, and credits his talent to the years spent at two prestigious Central Coast wineries, Wild Horse Winery and Adelaida Cellars, where he served as a winemaker for five years. Neil also worked for Chateau de Beaucastel, one of the most highly regarded estates in the Chateauneuf-du-Pape region of southern France. His experience spans fourteen harvests and makes Neil one of the most adventurous, audacious, and able winemakers in California, producing highly acclaimed wines every step of the way.
