On rare occasions, while searching for exceptional wines to feature in one of our upper-level wine club series, we discover a no-brainer, must-have-wine that deserves extra special attention. Typically, these discoveries are off-the-charts delicious, offered at an incredible value, and with such limited production there just isn’t enough to go around! Special Feature wines don’t come along very often, but when they do, we assure you it’s an opportunity you won’t want to miss. Our Special Feature this time comes from tiny Collier Falls Winery and Vineyard. The property lies among the beautiful rolling hills of Sonoma’s Dry Creek Valley on a 100-acre hillside property with a dramatic, sixty-foot waterfall. This idyllic site has been home to Collier Falls since Barry and Susan Collier purchased the land in 1997. Leaving behind the fast-paced lifestyle of running a Los Angeles entertainment production company, the Colliers found their calling and dream home in the friendly, peaceful surroundings of Dry Creek Valley. After their first vintage of Zinfandel earned 90 points from Wine Spectator magazine in 1999, the Colliers knew they were on the right path. With winemaking guidance from Marco DiGulio, their direction remains solidly on course with this exemplary bottling of the Primitivo grape.
